Wal-Mart Supercenter at Miles Field Update

We are pleased to announce that Wal-Mart will seek approval from the City of Medford to build a Supercenter at Miles Field to continue helping Medford residents save money and live better.

Although the Supercenter was previously approved, our application is back before the City as a result of a decision by the Oregon Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA) to remand the decision to the City for further review. A remand process is unusual, so we wanted to take the time to help you understand what this means.

The new application improves the original design with a smaller Supercenter that will now face Highway 99. Wal-Mart modified the store plans to address comments we heard from the city and local residents and resolves many issues that folks raised during the previous application process.

Under Oregon law, Wal-Mart has requested the City to initiate the remand from LUBA and start the public process towards what we hope will be approval of our plans. The application will be reviewed by the Site Plan and Architectural Commission (SPAC). SPAC will hold public hearings, and we hope you will be able to attend and let the SPAC know your thoughts about a new Wal-Mart at Miles Field.

Wal-Mart Miles Field Supercenter:
  • 176,000 square feet (This is a reduction of approximately 30,000 square feet from the proposal previously approved by the City)
  • Faces south with exposure toward Hwy 99
  • Includes a full-service grocery department
  • Pharmacy will offer $4 generic prescriptions

Please check back frequently for updates and thank you for supporting Wal-Mart.
