Wal-Mart Foundation Sponsors Eighth Annual Children’s Day Celebration in Cornelius, Ore.

The Wal-Mart Foundation, and other local sponsors, contributed to the eighth annual Children’s Day celebration held Saturday, April 26, at Harleman Park in Cornelius. Children and families gathered at the park’s playground for a parade.

The theme of this year’s event was, “Different Abilities, Equal Rights” and is organized by Centro Cultural of Washington County and Cornelius Public Library. The event will incorporate activities for children, including those with special needs. Activities will include arts and crafts, music, community organization booths, games, clowns, food and entertainment. Children are also encouraged to participate in the parade by wearing costumes, riding bikes and playing musical instruments or noisemakers.

The goal of the day is to promote a stronger and safer community by celebrating our children and providing for them education, fun, and interaction with their family and neighbors. Wal-Mart’s philosophy of operating globally and giving back locally and the goal of Children’s Day fit seamlessly together to create an inspiring and exciting day for children.
