Give us a Wal-Mart, please!Cornelius is an ideal home for Wal-Mart. We were disappointed when we found we couldn't have Wal-Mart in Hillsboro. They are not wanted in Beaverton. As my husband and I were driving through our little town of Cornelius about a month ago, we started talking: Why can't they bring Wal-Mart to Cornelius? We have vacant land. Traffic would not be a problem. We have four lanes coming in and out of Cornelius. I have been driving from Cornelius to McMinnville, Scappoose, Troutdale, Woodburn and even Hood River to shop at Wal-Mart. With gasoline prices starting to soar, wear and tear on my vehicle and nerves just to be able to shop at my favorite store, we were contemplating moving to a town that has a Wal-Mart if Washington County communities keep refusing them. A Wal-Mart would boost our over-burdened economy in Cornelius. It will make the existing businesses in the community and surrounding communities flourish. They will get more exposure through the transit coming into our community. Let's face it, when the residents of a community shop the majority of the time locally and have to drive for miles to shop at a low-cost department store/supercenter, there is something lacking in that community. Is it that they don't want to see growth? We are growing with service stations. We had better get a Wal-Mart in Cornelius in order for these stations to all survive. Yes! Give us a Wal-Mart, please! It would really build up Cornelius. It would just be an outstanding thing. We go to Wal-Mart quite often, but we have to go to McMinnville. So, it would be really nice.
